Common questions
The widget doesn't update every minute
The countdown in the widget ticks every minute on its own, but iOS decides how often widgets may fetch fresh departures, usually every 5 to 15 minutes. Commutez asks more often as departure gets close. A delay that appears between fetches is picked up at the next refresh, or right away when you open the app.
The Live Activity didn't start by itself
Live Activities appear inside your alert window, which by default is 30 minutes before you need to leave. Without push notifications, iOS only lets the app start or update a Live Activity while the app is open or during background refresh. Make sure Live Activities are allowed under iOS Settings → Commutez.
How does it know if I'm going to work or going home?
By default, use the HOME / WORK switch at the top of the app. If you turn on Location and allow “Always”, Commutez switches direction automatically when you arrive at or leave either place.
Do I have to share my home address?
No. In Norway you can pick a station instead of your address and set your walking time by hand. The trip is then planned from that station.
Some departures are greyed out
Those are trips you can only make if you run or take a scooter. They're shown so you know they exist, but the countdown always targets a trip you can make at walking pace.
The lock screen widget is black and white
That's iOS: lock screen widgets are always shown in a single tint. It's not a bug.
Which countries and cities are supported?
Public transport with realtime data in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Greater London. Car, bike and walking commutes work everywhere via Apple Maps. See the full list.
How do I set it up on Apple Watch or Mac?
Set up Commutez on your iPhone first. The Watch app gets your addresses and schedule from the phone, and the Mac app syncs through iCloud.
